Building Smashing Ceremony
The staff of Mills Property Management and Mills Construction put a new twist on an old tradition, by using golden sledgehammers in a building smashing ceremony instead of golden shovels in a ground breaking. Demolition began Tuesday, June 26, on the building at the corner of 6th Street and Western Avenue, the future site of an office building which will house Mills Property Management, as well as provide 1,500 square feet of additional business space for lease.
At right, Mary Jo Minor, president of Mills Property Management, takes a swing at the building. Several employees of both companies took out a little pent-up frustration by taking a swing at the old structure which many will remember as the former Perry Electric building.
